Alexander Alliance International
Gathering in Japan 2025
21 - 24 November 2025
The AAI Japan trip is an annual large gathering of trainees and graduates from all of the AA schools worldwide. The main event is a training immersion held in a traditional Temple in Yase, the north part of Kyoto, in the mountains, from the evening of 21 November 2025 through 3pm 24 November 2025. Everyone stays at the Temple for those 3 nights, with room and board included.
Before and after the Training, there is the possibility to be a tourist in this amazing city. Japanese friends and trainees offer to help escort visitors through the highlight attractions. Some things to know about these days:
-
You are responsible for your own housing and food. Megumi (Midori’s assistant) will find local airbnb-type houses which groups can rent, but the rent must be handled by the group, not her.
-
There are amazing Flea Markets on 21 November and 25 November, which you may want to visit.
-
Tourist days can be before or after the Training, or both.
-
You are expected to be at the Temple 21-24 November 2025.
Below is the financials for the event. Notice that there is an EarlyBird Discount, which ends 25 May 2025. Book as soon as possible, and start organizing housing - this is PRIMETIME for tourism in Kyoto, with the amazing maple leaves. Rentals will fill quickly!
The exchange rate is still very favorable for dollars and euro, so it’s a particularly good time to go.
This will be the first time that a amazing trio of three teachers, Robyn Avalon, Margarete Tüshaus and Midori Shinkai will teach together in Japan!

Travel information
The closest airport is KIX (Kansai International), which is in Osaka. There is easy train or shuttle van service to Kyoto. Sometimes flights are cheaper to Tokyo - you would either take a domestic flight to KIX (often leaving from Haneda Airport not Narita, so you catch a bus to change airports); or you’d get to the Shinkansen Train (this is the famous fast train - gorgeous ride). The least ordeal is to fly to KIX, fyi.
Fees
The price for “Room & Board” applies if you stay overnight in the temple. If you stay outside, e.g. in a hotel, you can book 3 dinners at the temple with the group and then the price for “3 dinner” applies.
