Why this Matters

Your voice and your words are powerful teaching tools because:

  • The voice touches many in one sweep — hands can only touch one at a time.

  • Good use and coordination is transmitted through the voice: useful for online teaching.

  • Your unique voice can support many, upholding lightness of being and keeping spirits high and hopeful, free from outside circumstances.

Thus your voice and words become invaluable — for your own practice, for your community, for the AT community at large. Communication is vital for our existence and our connection as human beings. The Alexander Technique creates the conditions for a well embodied, rich and clear voice.

Whether you are an Alexander Technique teacher or trainee, a voice professional, an educator, or simply someone who wants to be heard without strain, this workshop is for you!

The Core Questions

  • What happens the moment I intend to speak or sing?

  • What tenses up unnecessarily?

  • How do I disrupt the flow of my breath?

  • How do I lose contact with my mental clarity, my inner aliveness, my audience?

  • Do I allow pauses between my sentences? What is my pace?

What Gets Revealed

As if under a magnifying glass, this critical moment reveals every hindering pattern that:

  • Distorts my voice and gestures

  • Takes my breath away — and not in a good way

  • Brings unnecessary effort and tension into speaking and singing

  • Stops me from speaking when I have something valuable to contribute

  • Or fails to stop me when I'm talking without pause

The Alexander Technique is our unsurpassed tool for helping participants release these blockages and disruptive habits around communication.

What You'll Learn

  • Discovering your own unique vocal gift and way with words

  • How to effectively use Alexander's preparatory exercise for speaking and singing — the Whispered Ah

  • How to work with Alexander touch around breath and voice

  • How to touch and awaken the Primary Control through your voice

  • How to craft your language

  • How to bring Alexander's work into real life — teaching directly within situations around communication

About Celia

For almost 30 years, Celia Jurdant has helped people not just say (or sing) words, but embody their message.

Her approach is shaped by her training in classical singing, harp and the Alexander Technique (Stanton Hobbs, Cologne — Macdonald tradition), as well as by the work of Kristin Linklater, author of Freeing the Natural Voice, Jessica Wolf (The Art of Breathing), and many other voice and singing teachers.

After 10 years as Managing Director and assistant to Bruce Fertman at the Alexander Alliance Germany, she founded her own school in Strasbourg in 2017, offering Alexander Technique trainings online, in workshops, retreats and individual lessons.

She teaches internationally in Japan, the USA and Europe, bringing together voice, movement and embodied communication. Outside of teaching, she performs concerts with her duo Ladoré, plays the harp in retirement homes, meditates and dances tango.

What Past Participants Say

"It's a true turning point in my life!
Thank you from the bottom of my heart for the weekend! I've rarely experienced such a safe environment to share what I think and feel, and to speak my truth. Before, I mostly said what I believed others wanted to hear, to avoid conflict or disagreement. These past few weeks, I've understood it was time to change that — and that I now have the resources to do it."
— Hannah Ruhnau, AT Teacher

"The sound is very different — fuller, freer, with more nuance, more expression. It changes the sound immediately and brings great ease and enormous pleasure to the practice of my instruments."
— Sara Buffler, Singer & Harpist

"I had a thousand 'light bulb' moments.
Everything I had learned or came across in my life — I was finally able to actually put it into practice. Before, it was often, 'yes, that feels good,' but then it was gone again."
— Astrid Pfarrer, Singer and Voice Teacher
